Description

We do not support logical volume groups or logical volume manager(LVM) partitions for now(since we actively discourage using LVM partitions most probably we might not provide support with the future releases as well).
And also currently we do not support devices with GPT partition table.

This1 error message will appear if you try to format a device which is have GPT partition table with mpath partitions

Run the following command to list the partition table type along with the partitions

sudo parted -s /dev/{device_or_partition} print

Check Partition Table: line and any device node name with dm-x
(dm-X — Device Mapper. Use -N to see what these are, or ls -l /dev/mapper. Device Mapper underlies LVM2 and dm-crypt. If you're using either LVM or encrypted volumes, you'll see dm-X devices)

If a device is already having LVM partitions or logical device mapping,we recommend them to clear the partition table before using the Disk-Wizard.
Here are the instructions to clear the partition table

# sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=PhysicalVolume bs=512 count=1

replacing PhysicalVolume with your device path, e.g. /dev/sdb. Then run
# sudo partprobe

to let the kernel re-read the new now non-existing partition table

This2 diagram will help to understand currently supported operations/methods in disk-wizard plugin.
