Updated to latest version. Installed and tested with no issues.

Completed ownCloud v6.0.5 testing I will be starting testing on this release shortly.

Testing Status:

I am making good progress with my testing. I have some more testing to do before I give my recommendations.

Here is what I have so far:

1. With the change on Amahi from the use of "owncloud" to owncloudx (x - version number) we have one challenge for those who want to "upgrade" from a major version release to the next (i.e. 6.0.5 to 7.0,2). When the old ownCloud config.php file to copied over from backup the system owner/admin will have to edit this file to change the data location and database name/id/password to reflect the release number being upgraded to. I will be updating the Amahi Wiki on upgrades to reflect this in the very near future. "Update" testing on a Raspberry Pi was successful.
2. The "Documents" application does not seem to be able to open exists ODF doucments. More testing to be done.
3. The "Music" application v3.4 will not playback mp3s. This is due to major rewrite being done by the author. Apparently the v3.3 application from ownCloud V6 is reported to work in V7. More test to be done.

So far ownCloud v7 is really neat. I have being playing with it on my Raspberry Pi bench machine and have been impressed with it.

Ok I did more testing on the ownCloud Documents and Music applications. They do not function correctly.

1. The current Music V3.4 application will not play mp3s. As before this application it is under complete rewrite at the moment. However the prior release V3.3 will play mp3s, although is has a bug where it will not display the entire playlist titles.
2. The current Documents application will not display ODF documents, it appears to freeze. Although the Documents application from the ownCloud V7.0.1 release does function.

However I did manage to do workarounds in both cases. Anyone that requires these prior releases of these applications can download them from the ownCloud Github repository. The current release applications will have to be "Disabled" in the ownCloud admin Apps centre and the applications deleted from the ownCloud apps directory. The prior release apps can be downloaded, unziped, copied to the ownCloud apps directory, and then "Enabled" in the ownCloud admin Apps centre.

So I feel that 95% of this ownCloud release actually works. I have monitored the ownCloud Forums and major complaints on this release have subsided very quickly most of them were with upgrade and update challenges that were quickly solved. Other than the current Documents and Music application annoyances this release could be spun in to production use.

I leave the final deployment decisions with you guys.

I will have to discuss with cpg. I am reluctant to release something that is not fully functional. If there are still problems, it might be best to wait until they are resolved.

Otherwise I feel we risk an additional support workload.

The ownCloud tools have been updated to handle ownCloud 7 database and file structure.

cpg,

Please see my comments above. Your thoughts on release?

From my limited understanding of the details, 95% seems reasonably close to the full app, since it looks like some work-arounds were applied by northridgegrp?

If you guys, well, more specifically northridgegrp, agree to be onboard to take the extra possible support of issues that this may bring, i would say release it.

I see some mention on this bug and #1538 about a database structure. If people upgrade by uninstalling and re-installing, will everything work well? is this path tested?

This release is somewhat crippled by two applications. The same problems in the Music application as in V6 and the Documents app. Music 3.3 could be used as a replacement for the 3.4 current player. The Documents app is now a major component of ownCloud as it took over the job of replacing the ODF document viewers in addition to providing the creation of ODF word processing documents. The current Documents app in v7.0.2 is the same version as V7.0.1. It appears there is be a bug of some sort in the current ownCloud infrastructure limiting use of Documents. ownCloud V7.0.3 is coming soon according to the ownCloud News Blog.

I thing we should wait and see if next release(s) are more stable. Thoughts? :)
