Description

Hello
Automatic updating doesn't appear to be working for plex

The version I have installed is 0.9.11.7.803-87d0708, it states that there is an update available and asks for it to be installed manually .

The public release for Fedora 64 bit on Plex's site is 0.9.11.16.958-80f178 and is available at https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.16.958-80f1748/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.16.958-80f1748.x86_64.rpm

As well ... in case things have changed in any way .... *if*++ a Plex pass version could be constructed ... it is also availble at https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.11.17.986-269b82b/plexmediaserver-0.9.11.17.986-269b82b.x86_64.rpm
Thx for your time

test this rpm out with this rpm. please note that it could break your plex system, so try at your own risk. if you do, please post feedback here by assigning back to me.

rpm -Uvh http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-plex-0.7-1.x86_64.rpm

Plex just keeps releasing them and releasing them.... Today's update includes an overhaul of the music library, which is quite a significant update. Might be easier to make a HowTo document that guides through the process of a manual installation.

Thanks!

that is definitely, 100%, not workable. this is a complex, moody, volatile app.

we can't possible how-to this beast and hope that it might work, much less for regular users.

will get to packaging it soon.

Sorry ... Unexpected events on this end ... It will be a couple weeks before I return home to do any testing ... maybe there is someone else available to help ?

I has some issues. Suddenly I could not see any of my libraries. Tried things but the last thing I did was to uninstal amahi-plex. I will do this installation and report...

well after removing/unistalling the amahi-web-app for plex, and installing the amahi-plex-0.7-1.x86_64.rpm, mentioned aboved , nothing seems to happen.
There is no plex media server in the App tab, neither I can connect :(

ok ... I just got back into town ... with the latest update by "gorillazgr" ... it would appear it didn't work out very well ... that being said ... it would also appear that plex themselves have made some considerable changes in the meantime ... would it be possible to give this another run with this public release instead https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.1.1079-b655370/plexmediaserver-0.9.12.1.1079-b655370.x86_64.rpm
Thx

I have to leave town again on the 29th for a couple of weeks .... so I was just wondering how things were going ? and if the release above hasn't been worked on then the latest public release for Fedora 14 would be the following https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/plexmediaserver-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21.x86_64.rpm
thx for your time

I just thought I would check in to see if any progress has been made ...
I know you are busy with other things ... but I thought i would provide the latest public release information for plex under fedora 19 in 64 bit which can be found here https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21/plexmediaserver-0.9.12.4.1192-9a47d21.x86_64.rpm
Thx again

we packaged a new rpm for testing the latest (currently 0.9.14.6.1620-e0b7243) publicly available version of plex. can you guys help test it?

the procedure to test is to NOT uninstall the existing package and install this one as an update with:

rpm -Uvh http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/amahi-plex-0.9.14-1.x86_64.rpm

(this will not update the existing version in the Setup > Apps > Installed for Plex, so please ignore that number, it's just a label)

I've installed it via the instructed method and it appears to be working so far. Will continue testing and report if there are issues.

Thanks!

Used it all night, everything is in working order. Didn't have to do any reconfiguration and the database stayed intact. Hope it works for others as well.

I installed it, restarted amahi-plex a few times, then tried to import the itunes playlists - got the nasty red bubble - problem importing. Also, no channels for itunes like the Windows version has.

Looks like my server updated to this rpm automatically, however the web interface is no longer working for me. If I go to plexms.home.com it just loads a white page. That being said, if I access the server from an app (desktop, mobile, etc.) it works fine. Here's my 'fpast --sysinfo': http://paste.fedoraproject.org/314709/37676521/

I should mention that hda:32400/web/index.html still works, just plexms.home.com does not.

#16 Updated by cpg over 4 years ago

@enginerd364, can you try changing "localhost" to "hda" in the /etc/httpd/conf.d/*plex*.conf file and restart httpd to see if that works?

#17 Updated by cpg over 4 years ago

Actually, we just updated the app to use "hda" so you can just reinstall and see if that helps (assuming you can afford to reinstall the app).

I just started having this issue after the last update Amahi pushed through. I can access the page: http://hda:32400/web/index.html#!/settings

Something broke that wasn't broken prior to this update.
http://plexms.YOURHDA.com/index.html

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /index.html.

Reason: DNS lookup failure for: hda
#19 Updated by TheGeebs over 4 years ago

I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled as cpg suggested. Didn't help. I see this in the config file after reinstall:

ProxyPass / http://hda:32400/web/
ProxyPassReverse / http://hda:32400/web/

Did not help with exactly what?

I should note that our repo system is down for an alarming 11 hours now, so if you reinstalled in that window, it's possible that the actual package included in the app was not installed somehow and your system may actually not even be running the Plex media server at all.

We have provisioned a new server and it's online, however, DNS can take a while to propagate.

If you know how to flush your DNS (e.g. restart your HDA or change a network setting), it may help with the installation of the app.

Sorry about the down time. It was unplanned.

 • Project changed from apps to plex
 • Subject changed from More Plex updates to Plex web interface not working with short name -- work-around required
 • Category deleted (Apps)
 • Status changed from Assigned to Closed

The workaround of using http://hda:32400/web will have to continue until the app fixes this broken behavior. Please access it that way.

Please reopen if that does not work for you.
