Description

one user seemed to have issued booting on newer hardware.

the error was that fedora 23 would drop into emergency mode and say /dev/root does not exist, or /dev/root not found.

then he found this page saying that some of these tools do not work well at least on fedora: https://www.happyassassin.net/2014/02/04/more-on-booting-a-practical-fedora-uefi-guide-and-dont-use-universal-usb-stick-writers/

and this page takes us to 1) a fedora guide on writing usb sticks: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_create_and_use_Live_USB
and 2) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_create_and_use_Live_USB

the user reports that rawrite32 under windows 10 works for him: http://www.netbsd.org/~martin/rawrite32/

should we update the wiki guidance?
or perhaps add to troubleshoting?

Couldn't determine how to add a reply. You can resolve the unetbootin Fedora23 install issue by hitting tab on the install menu and replacing the label with the name of the USB stick you are using. I pro-actively renamed my USB Key F23 in windows or in MacOS to make it easier. Once you do this the install will work just fine.
