I thought the command was:

sudo systemctl status amahi-plex

You are right. It is running. How shall I proceed with the troubleshooting?

What do you mean it's gone. The service is running.

Need more details of the issue.

Also be advised, the latest officially supported Amahi version is Amahi 11 on Fedora 27.

Amahi 9 is in maintenance mode, so no updates will be made to apps or Amahi.

and to restart it by hand, try this:

systemctl start amahi-plex

systemctl restart amahi-plex

also, since you are a premium supporter of Amahi, we're reaching you by email, so check there for more hands-on help.

Status update.

I was able to help a by compiling the latest for him on his HDA, in the hopes that maybe it was too old to be supported by his clients. The compilation worked well (somewhat surprisingly for an older distro), and the service runs seemingly OK. So this kind of rules out any issues with old version mismatches, because he seems to be experiencing the same issue after the update.

It could be temporary/DNS? He did say the plex forums seem to have lots of posts related to the same issue.

Let's touch back in a day or two after things are rebooted and maybe the media library is re-scanned, etc.

Resetting the Plex Media Server fixed the issue. The only thing I am going to miss, what media is WATCHED.

systemctl stop amahi-plex
rm -rf /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/
systemctl start amahi-plex

For some reason I was unable to access the Plex frontend for some reason... maybe a SHIFT+Refresh on the browser could have been enough.
