the first user does not have a corresponding samba user
Fedora 10 and later require that a user be created while installing fedora.
Because this user and associated password is created outside of the Amahi setup pages, it does not have a corresponding samba user (the Amahi setup has "unified users" for linux console, ssh, vpn, samba, etc.).
The work-around for this issue is to change the first user's password in the Amahi Setup pages (Users tab).
(It does not require that the password be different than the one existing.)
This process also creates the user in samba if it did not exist, giving proper access to the shares.
