Description

I got to try Amahi 12 on hardware.

I used the Fedora 29 server image minimal ISO image to install it on to the system.

1) Installation was a little bumpy, but was OK, other that I did not notice it was asking me about creating a user. It asked me for a root password. This causes issues during platform initialization, as there is no first user.

2) docker installed after hda-ctl was installed with dnf (per the installation instructions) and apparently that set up dhclient automatically, so the network settings were not quite right, but I am not sure what caused that exactly.

Mitigation: stopped and disabled two services: docker and docker-containerd, then killed dhclient

samba does not appear to work with the mac os x client (Finder). although it may be due to my client having been used before with a prior HDA.

turns out dhclient is started by hda-ctl to check the local IP of the main device and dhclient apparently we don't bother to stop it. ouch.

the following are all available in the f29 repo:

  • amahi-anywhere
  • amahi-sync
  • amahi-plex
  • amahi-greyhole
  • amahi-netboot

Want to look into samba issues (at least w/ mac os x).

I made some changed to amahi-netboot in Fedora 25 & 27.

Not sure I updated it on github though :(

Take a look at the app for Fedora 27.

It should give you all the specifics needed to rebuild the RPM.
