Description

the Amahi Dashboard latest News is from 2 years ago and it makes the Amahi project look like not supported anymore, I am saying this due to chatting to people on the internet and them saying it not supported for over 2 years, this makes it like it not been work on and people would move to other Nas server platforms, just think about if you just set up your home server and seen this first time it would make you think it an old project with no support or development

we need to change where it getting data from or not have it at all

I went through the source code and found that it was solid. Most of the project code hasn't seen any commits since the summer of 2019 and the news section of the project (https://blog.amahi.org/) hasn't had any new content. It's still a useful feature, let's user's know when something's going on.

Maybe we can show news that is within a year?

The news is a feed from the blog. So if we aren't posting in the blog, there won't be anything more current.

My suggestion would be to find a way to pull the HootSuite posts (Facebook) into the news. That would provide users with app updates.

If we could tie FaceBook into the news feed rather than the blog, that would be better. Since we don't have a PR person, blog updates are far and few between. Maybe someone like #rhglass would like to volunteer to help with Amahi PR? Out team is so small (2-3 people) and need more volunteers to help out with things such as this.

I can help to pull the Facebook/twitter posts into the homepage. I'm new to this whole opensource contribution thing so pardon me for sounding naive, I'm not able to assign this bug to myself on here. Can someone do it for me?

Also I can volunteer to write for the blog to help the project sith the PR.

Thanks in advance.

You are not in the list to assign the bug to you. Recommend you contact cpg and let him know your intentions. We only need the Facebook or Twitter, but not both in the news feed.

Twitter might be best as we don't want anything but text. Also only the original tweet, not any responses at this point.

cpg is the deciding point here though.
