Bug #294
hdactl hanging
0%
Description
After creating a new web-app (to work on app packaging), hdactl apparently stopped responding, as the web-app was not added to the dynamically updated named database (/var/named/dynamic/hda-n2a.conf). The alias did not work via ping or nslookup via the HDA server.
There were 3 hdactl processes via ps -aux - two were marked as sleeping for > 500 seconds, and one had no annotation near it. hdactl-hup didn't restore function. killall hdactl also failed to kill the processes.
killall -9 hdactl DID work at killing the processes, and the server returned to normal after running hdactl. Strangely, after killing the processes, there was no lock file at /var/lock/subsys/hdactl.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what steps to take to recreate this - it seemed to happen randomly.
Signs of bug occurrence:
- Failure of new web-apps to resolve, while old web-apps / previously installed programs still work normally
- Inability to install new apps from the 'available' sub-tab (hangs on the 'Preparing to install...' text, while /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log just lists "Installing app" and the app info.
Temporary fix:
killall -9 hdactl
hdactl
Nothing seems abnormal in the /var/log/messages file.
