If network device file not found then create it
0%
Description
The following bug was experienced in Fedora 16 i686.
Conversation from IRC.
(01:28:04 AM) sag47: I had to manually create a file for my device in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
(01:28:11 AM) sag47: my device is call em1
(01:29:00 AM) sag47: and there is no /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-em1
(01:29:06 AM) sag47: so when Amahi installed
(01:29:16 AM) sag47: it errored out on attempting to set a static IP address
(01:29:21 AM) sag47: because the file didn't exist
(01:29:28 AM) sag47: instead I created one manually
(01:29:31 AM) sag47: with the following settings
(01:30:05 AM) sag47: http://fpaste.org/38r2/
(01:30:26 AM) sag47: cpg: so a good thing to do would be, if the file doesn't exist
(01:30:29 AM) sag47: then create it
(01:30:52 AM) sag47: because in the new system apparently the file doesn't have to exist since the NetworkManager handles all that upon the first install
(01:31:11 AM) sag47: granted you gotta put in the MAC and stuff like the device
(01:31:16 AM) sag47: but those aren't impossible to detect
(01:31:48 AM) sag47: cpg: do you want me to create a ticket with this conversation? or maybe post it in a feedback forum somewhere?
(01:33:44 AM) cpg: that would be awesome
